Groundbreaking Ceremony

Elder Joni L. Koch, president of the Brazil Area, will preside at the groundbreaking services for the Ribeirão Preto Brazil Temple on Saturday, June 22, 2024. The temple will be constructed at the intersection of Av. Antonio Marcal and R. Jose Brandani in Ribeirão Preto. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 32,000 square feet. There are currently 23 temples dedicated, under construction, or in planning for Brazil.¹

Temple Rendering

On January 8, 2024, the official exterior rendering of the Ribeirão Preto Brazil Temple was released.²

Temple Site

On November 28, 2022, the location of the Ribeirão Preto Brazil Temple was announced. The single-story, 32,000-square-foot temple will be constructed on a large lot located at the intersection of Avenida Antônio Marçal and R. José Brandani.³

Temple Announcement

On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Ribeirão Preto Brazil Temple at the October 2022 General Conference. The temple will be located in the state of São Paulo in Southeast Brazil. There are 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,100 congregations. The temple is the 18th temple announced for Brazil. At the time of its announcement, there were dedicated temples in Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo; three under construction in Belém, Brasília, and Salvador; and others announced for Belo Horizonte, East São Paulo, Londrina, Maceió, Santos and Vitória.⁴
